Old North
No City page defines Old North or draws its boundary. The London Plan does not map definitive neighbourhood boundaries. The only Old North line in the 16 January 2026 Place Type Policies is a Rapid Transit Corridor preservation segment: Old North Richmond Street, being Richmond Street from Oxford Street to Huron Street. That is a street segment, not the neighbourhood.
If the file uses this name, read The London Realtor hiring notes and write whether the lot is on that segment, inside a district CityMap shows, or only near the name.
Names that are not Old North
Bishop Hellmuth is a separate Heritage Conservation District, designated in 2003, generally north of Oxford Street East between Wellington Street and Waterloo Street. It has about 190 properties, largely built from 1895 to 1910, predominantly in the Queen Anne Revival style. Do not call Bishop Hellmuth Old North. If a lot is inside Bishop Hellmuth, a Heritage Alteration Permit follows the classes in that plan, not a plan for Old North.
St. George–Grosvenor is a heritage conservation district study, not a designation. Do not tell an owner they are in a district unless CityMap shows a district or an individual designation. The City says that study boundary will be evaluated. It is not a line you can hire against.
Properties on the Old North Richmond Street segment are in a preservation segment. The goals include conserving cultural heritage resources under the Ontario Heritage Act. That sentence applies to the segment, from Oxford Street to Huron Street. It does not annex the streets on either side into a neighbourhood the City has not drawn.
What to ask before you hire
Ask which of these the lot actually is: on the Richmond segment, inside Bishop Hellmuth, inside some other district CityMap shows, or only near the name Old North. A designated district, where one exists, is marked by blue street signs with white text and a decorative top. Old North is not itself a district. The sign, if there is one, belongs to the district CityMap shows.
Ask which class of alteration needs a Heritage Alteration Permit, and under which plan. If no district applies, do not invent a permit class from the name. The district index is the City's heritage districts page.
Ask whether the written agreement names who represents you. It has to be in writing before services. See RECO's page on signing a contract with a brokerage. Market figures are on the LSTAR statistics page. This site prints no sold price. The other notes are on the neighbourhoods page.
Questions
Does the City draw a boundary for Old North?
No. No City page defines Old North or draws its boundary, and The London Plan does not map definitive neighbourhood boundaries. The only Old North line in the 16 January 2026 Place Type Policies is Richmond Street from Oxford Street to Huron Street, and that is a street segment.
Is St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica an Old North house?
No. The photograph on this page is St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica at Dufferin Avenue and Richmond Street, south of Oxford Street. It is not an Old North house, and it is not a boundary marker.
