London, Ontario
The London Realtor
The London Realtor helps a buyer or seller in the City of London, Ontario hire one local agent, and explains what to settle first: the file, the neighbourhood, and the written agreement.
The file is a purchase, a sale, or both. The neighbourhood is the part of the city the house sits in, including whether the lot is inside a heritage district or only near the name. The written agreement names who represents you, and it comes before services. Put those three in the form. A person replies by email.

Neighbourhoods, from the City's pages
The Wortley Village–Old South Heritage Conservation District had a recognizable suburban streetscape by 1915, and its built form was mainly in place before the Second World War. It holds 1,048 properties. Council adopted the plan on 18 September 2014. Designation under Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act followed on 1 June 2015. The City's boundary is general. It is not the edge of every street people call Old South. Wortley Village as a Main Street Place Type is the business street, not the district, and it is not a business improvement area. Read Wortley Village–Old South before you treat the name as the lot.
No City page defines Old North or draws its boundary. The London Plan does not map definitive neighbourhood boundaries. The only Old North line in the 16 January 2026 Place Type Policies is Richmond Street from Oxford Street to Huron Street, a preservation segment, not the neighbourhood. Bishop Hellmuth, designated in 2003, is a separate district generally north of Oxford between Wellington and Waterloo. It is not Old North. St. George–Grosvenor is a study, not a designation. Confirm the lot on CityMap, then read Old North.
Woodfield is not one district. East Woodfield was designated in 1994, London's first, about 170 properties. West Woodfield was designated in 2008, about 500 properties, and includes Victoria Park. Two City pages give approximate perimeters, and they disagree on the south edge: Queens Avenue, or Dufferin Avenue and Queens Avenue. See Woodfield. Old East Village and downtown are different maps again: Old East Village, designated in 2006, and downtown, designated in 2013, which excludes CitiPlaza.
The Thames runs through the city. This page does not draw a flood line. The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority publishes approximate regulated-area maps. This page does not read them. Ivey Park is inside the Downtown Heritage Conservation District. South of Horton, SoHo is a name larger than the Old Victoria Hospital lands plan. Blackfriars/Petersville is its own district, bound in part by the river, and it is not the downtown district. The seven notes are indexed on the neighbourhoods page.
Common questions
What should you settle before you hire an agent in London, Ontario?
Settle the file, the neighbourhood, and the written agreement before you hire. The file is a purchase, a sale, or both, and which of those leads if both are open. The neighbourhood is where the house sits in the City of London, including whether the lot is inside a heritage district or only near the name. The agreement is in writing, it names who represents you, and it comes before services.
Which London neighbourhoods does this page actually describe?
Seven: Wortley Village–Old South, Old North, Woodfield, Old East Village, downtown, SoHo, and Blackfriars/Petersville. Byron, Masonville, Hyde Park, White Oaks, and Pond Mills are not described here. The London Plan does not map definitive neighbourhood boundaries, so each note follows a City designation or plan rather than a nickname.
Does one agent handle a purchase and a sale?
Yes. One agent can handle a purchase, a sale, or both. If both are open, say which one leads, and what happens if the dates do not meet. The written agreement should name who represents you on each file.
Does sending the form hire anyone?
No. A person reads it and replies by email.
